Bear Group
Welcome to the Bear Group. This is where the children start when they join us as a rising 3-year old. Children enjoy sessions full of fun and play, with 15 minutes each half-day when we work as a group; playing a game, creating pictures, exploring new ideas together and sharing stories.
Once a week we have a PE session, when the children change into plimsols; a helpful skill to learn. We enjoy a range of physical activities – for example, movement to music, dance with scarfs and ribbons, making our own music with a variety of instruments, moving along a little balancing wall, or steering cars between cones and using the STOP/GO signs.
Each term we share a Topic with the Elephants and Tigers, selecting related activities which reflect the ages and ability of those in the Bear group. You will find more about this below.
We follow the four guiding principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage - every child is unique, encouraging positive relationships, having an enabling environment for good learning and development, and appreciating that children develop at different rates and in different ways. Our children are encouraged to enjoy themselves and flourish in a stimulating,
richly educational and above all, fun environment.
A very big welcome back to all the children after the Christmas holidays. I hope you have all had a wonderful time. We have a few changes to our group and will be welcoming some new Bears. We are very much looking forward to seeing you. This term our topic will be 'people who help us', which is particularly important with the present coronavirus pandemic when we think of all the medical staff and key workers who have been a constant help. Certain favourite characters such as Fireman Sam, Percy the Park Keeper and Postman Pat will no doubt feature and we will be looking at many other people who help us.
