A nurturing start for curious minds
Nestled in the heart of the countryside, Brightwalton Prechool Nursery offers a beautiful, rural setting where young children can thrive. Surrounded by open fields and enchanting woodland, our preschool provides the perfect environment for early learning, exploration, and play.
We believe that the early years are a unique and vital stage in a child’s development. At Brightwalton, we combine a nurturing atmosphere with meaningful challenge, supporting each child as they grow in confidence, independence, Our experienced team is passionate about creating a safe, inspiring space where children feel valued, supported, and excited to learn.
Learning Through Play and Nature  Our spacious outdoor areas – including a playing field and wooded exploration area – allow children to enjoy the freedom of nature every day. We place a strong emphasis on physical activity, with plenty of opportunities for climbing, balancing, digging, and building. These activities not only support health and wellbeing but also help develop the upper body strength and fine motor control essential for early mark making and writing skills.
Building Strong Foundations  Children at Brightwalton learn through a rich mix of structured and free flowing activities designed to foster creativity, communication, and problem solving. Whether they're working together to solve a puzzle, creating imaginative artwork, or participating in a drama session, children are encouraged to think critically, express themselves, and collaborate with peers. We celebrate kindness, good manners, and empathy, with older children naturally taking on gentle leadership roles and helping younger ones navigate their day.
A Vibrant Daily Routine  Each day is thoughtfully planned to provide a balance of stimulating experiences and calm, reflective moments. Daily activities includes:
  • Daily sensory circuits to support regulation, coordination, and readiness to learn
  • Weekly PE sessions that build physical confidence and teamwork
  • Frequent singing, music, and drama activities to develop language and emotional expression
  • Creative arts to nurture imagination and fine motor skills
A True Partnership With Parents  We know that parents are a child’s first and most important educators, and we pride ourselves on building strong, open relationships with every family. We offer regular feedback and engage in ongoing dialogue about each child’s progress, interests, and needs. Through our secure online observation and learning journal, parents can see what their child has been doing each day, sharing in the magic of those small, but powerful, moments of discovery and growth.
At Brightwalton, your child will be encouraged, challenged, and cherished. We are committed to laying the foundations for a lifelong love of learning, all in a setting that feels like a second home.
We would love to welcome you for a visit — come and see the difference a rural, nurturing start can make.

Our New Topic This Term: Caring for our Planet 🌍
Through play, stories, hands-on activities and discussion, we will begin to learn how we can care for the world around us and why it is important to look after it.
We will introduce simple ideas about caring for the environment in an age-appropriate and reassuring way. The children will learn how small actions can make a big difference, such as recycling, saving water and electricity, and picking up litter to help protect our wildlife. These activities support children in developing a sense of responsibility, kindness and respect for the natural world.
As part of this topic, we will spend time outdoors planting in our garden to encourage insects such as bees and butterflies, and feeding the birds to help them thrive. This will give children the opportunity to observe nature closely and understand how living things depend on us and each other. Outdoor learning also supports physical development and wellbeing.
We will gently introduce the idea of global warming and saving the planet, focusing on simple messages such as looking after our Earth and making caring choices. These discussions will be led through stories, pictures and conversation, ensuring children feel empowered rather than worried.
Story time will include familiar and engaging books such as Topsy and Tim – Start Recycling, helping children to understand recycling through characters they know and love. Stories will support communication and language development, encourage questions, and help children make sense of new ideas.

We are looking forward to a term full of curiosity, care, and learning as we discover how we can all help to look after Our Planet.

To help children regulate their energy levels and improve focus, we run a daily sensory circuit.  This structured series of activities is designed to stimulate and calm the senses, supporting children's physical and emotional development.  The sensory circuit not only helps children develop motor skills but also boosts their confidence, attention and ability to engage in activities.

Outdoor learning in our woodland area:-  we are thrilled to continue our outdoor learning sessions in our woodland area which provide endless opportunities for exploration, creativity and connection with nature.
Outdoor learning has numerous benefits for children including fostering resilience, boosting physical and mental well-being and nurturing curiosity and creativity.  It's also a wonderful way to develop social skills and build a sense of connection to the environment.

Activities include:- building camps, encouraging teamwork and problem solving as children construct shelters.  Exploring nature, observing plants, animals and seasonal changes.  Art activities, painting, bark rubbing and nature inspired crafts.
