Phonics Through Play
Learning to read starts with listening, exploring and having fun with sounds. For preschoolers aged 3 and 4, phonics is all about building those early foundations in a playful, relaxed way.
Through songs, rhymes, stories and simple phonics games, children begin to notice the sounds they hear in words and learn to recognise and say individual letter sounds. Activities such as sound hunts, matching games, listening games and “I spy” make learning feel like play while helping children develop important early reading skills.
At this age, there is no need to rush. We encourage children to explore sounds at their own pace, celebrating every little discovery along the way. Whether we're clapping out sounds, finding objects that begin with a particular sound or singing along to a favourite phonics song, our aim is to make early literacy fun, engaging and something children look forward to.
Because when children learn through play, they don't just learn their sounds, they build confidence, curiosity and a love of learning too.
